UW-Stevens Point Pitcher Cam Seidl Joins Rafters

Wisconsin Rapids, WI- May 17, 2012.   The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters added the final piece to the opening day puzzle by signing right-handed pitcher Cam Seidl (University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point) to a 2012 contract.
 
After two years of sporadic action for UW-Stevens Point, Seidl recently finished up a masterful campaign, emerging as the staff ace and earning First Team All-WIAC and WIAC Pitcher of the Year Honors.  The junior right-hander led the Pointers in ERA (1.67), IP (75.1), opposing batting average (.179), and complete games (6), which included three shutouts. 
 
The Appleton native is now one of eight former Rafters to return for 2012 on a full contract.  Last summer, Seidl threw 6.2 innings for the Rafters over four games and struck out two playing on a temporary contract.
 
With the additional of Seidl, the roster sits at 29 players with just under two weeks away from Opening Day at Witter Field on May 30th. Injuries to former roster additions Logan Kirkland (South Alabama) and Tyler Farrell (Western Illinois) prevent them from joining the team by the start of the season.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are members of the 16-team summer collegiate Northwoods League. The Rafters will play a 70 game schedule with 35 home games in 2012. Opening Day at historic Witter Field is scheduled for Wednesday, May 30th at 7:05 pm against the La Crosse Loggers.
