Wisconsin Rapids, WI – February 11, 2010. What do the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Sunday’s Dr. Pepper Super Bowl commercial have in common? Mini Kiss, of course. In the first chapter of zany promotions planned by the Rafters marketing staff each summer, the team has booked “Mini Kiss,” a tribute band of little people dressed like you-guessed-it--Kiss. The band is set to appear at the ballpark on Saturday, August 7, play a pre-game show on the field, sign autographs during the game, and perform a post-game concert at a location to be determined in the coming weeks.
Sunday’s commercial was played with two minutes remaining in the second quarter and featured the real former Kiss lead vocalist Gene Simmons promoting Dr. Pepper with a little “kiss” of cherry flavor. Mini Kiss was shown performing Kiss’ hit song, “Calling Dr. Love,” as members of the original band joined them on stage.
Since Sunday, the “Dr. Pepper Cherry Dr. Love – Little Kiss YouTube video had over 750,000 views.
The Rafters look forward to having “Mini Kiss” out at the ballpark.
