One More for the Road, and for the Fans

Wisconsin Rapids, WI. August 16, 2010- The inaugural Wisconsin Rapids Rafters season all comes down to this. The Rafters take on the Battle Creek Bombers in the last game of their 2010 Northwoods League season tonight.

Sunday night the Bombers took advantage of seven Rafters errors to earn a split in the first two games of the three game set. Matt Baudino will search for the series win as the lefty makes his twelfth start of the summer.

Two months and one week ago Baudino started the first ever Rafters game at Witter Field. Though he took the loss, it started the University of La Verne senior down a road of successful starts. Baudino is just 2-7 but his two wins are six inning shut-out victories. The team leader in innings pitched puts his 4.26 ERA on the line again tonight.

After trailing early Sunday the Rafters manufactured a crooked number of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brad Hallberg crushed a two out double to score the final run of the frame. Hallberg now has notched three hits and three runs batted in over the first two games against the Bombers.

As a team the Rafters are hitting .226 into the final game of the 2010 season.
