Wisconsin Rapids, WI-August 10, 2010. For a team that has grown accustomed to playing tight, closely contested games throughout the season, Monday nights 24-12 loss may have seemed especially surreal.
Tonight the Rafters will look to continue the good and improve the bad. The good, 12 runs scored on 13 hits, the bad allowing at least 2 runs in each of the first six innings, including an 11 run first.
After using seven pitchers Monday night, the Rafters turn to Matt Baudino, looking for a huge lift from the lefty as he makes his eleventh start of the season. Baudino is 2-6 with a 4.21 ERA. In his last start against the Loggers however, Baudino tossed six scoreless innings of three hit ball.
In the wake of the 12 run, 13 hit night the Rafters will try to keep the offensive rolling. Evan Laude went 5-for-5 in his first game after being sidelined for the weekend with back troubles. Three more hits for Cody Koback bolstered the outfielder’s average to .314 and propelled him into the league’s top 15.
Tonight will wrap up the season series between the Rafters and Loggers. Over the first nine games the Rafters are 3-6 against La Crosse.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the baseball cards that were to be distributed Tuesday to the first 500 kids will not be available for pick-up until Wednesday, August 11th. The Rafters will distribute coupons to the first 500 kids through the gates Tuesday. Those coupons can be redeemed for the baseball cards late Wednesday afternoon at the Rafters ticket office at Witter Field.
Because of this inconvenience, the Rafters will also offer two-for-one tickets to Wednesday’s game for the first 500 kids on Tuesday. Please call the Rafters ticket office for additional information.
